Kempinski Hotel supports Soya Awards initiative

Safaricom Sports Personality of the Year Award (SOYA) has over the years received support from various companies companies across all sectors.

The cash and kind donations have ensured successful annual event which was started in 2004 and the categories for awards have increased due to many number of sponsors coming on board.

Kempinski Hotel Nairobi in 2016 complemented the telecommunication outfit Safaricom in sponsoring the initiative.

The hotel injected ShSh311, 500 (3,044.62) in the SOYA Awards kitty. The cash would see best sport personalities in various categories being awarded handsomely for their beautiful work.

Kempinski Director of sales and marketing, Anne Murungi said they were pleased to partner with the Awards and were looking forward to sign a long term deal.

“We had a splendid performance in 2015 like being at the world map by finishing top at the World Championships in Beijing, not forgetting our Hockey women’s team who defended the Africa Championship and women’s volley ball team who won gold at All Africa Games.

“Looking at this and more honours that Kenya has won, there is no better thing a corporate entity should do but support the good work that the sports men and women of this country are doing,” Ms Murungi said. The panel of judges chairman Watson Karuma commended the sponsors for their good gestures.
